Cup/Plate Finals

Hatton Cup & Plate was contended by the following teams.

Cup - Whitstable Natives, Magpies & Broadstairs Pirates
Plate - Whitstable Reefs, Manston Woodpeckers & Horse & Groom Bis

After the first 2 rounds the Cup left Magpies & Pirates and Plate Woodpeckers & Reefs battling it for the titles.
In the Cup the the teams were at 2 each after the Triples & 2 Doubles and the Pirates managed victory 13-11 in a very tight last 3 end battle.

In the Plate same was to be said a tight battle persued with the Manston Woodpeckers coming out winners.

Great days petanque and weather was good to us again, and many thanks to the Horse & Groom for the excelent buffet provided..

League Triples

League Triples had an entry of 10 teams, which was played in 2 leagues and then knock out. Overall winners wer the team of Marcus, Callum & Ethan Hickman beating Val, Kathy & Keith from Woodpeckers. Plate was won by new players from Grattons whitstable, Matt, Rob & Jane beating Ollie, Barbara & Bob.

Good buffet supplied by Manston and all in all a good day.

League Doubles

League Doubles had 9 teams which made for a long day due to a 5 team league. Overall winners were Paul Dennis & Alan Cregeen - Vikings beating Alan Martin & Duncan Hardy - Whitstable Natives. Plate was won by Ollie & Ryan - Magpies.

Thanks to Horse & Groom for supplying burgers & hotdogs for lunch at £2 per head.

Spare Boule

If anyone has any spare boule they wish to sell, around the 700g if possible, then please contact Alan Smith at the taverners, as they have 4 new players that would like there own boule.

League Singles

The singles competition held on 9th June at Manston was contested by 10 players mainly from the Manston and Charlotte Court/ Horse & Groom teams.
Matches were played in 2 groups of 5 with winner and runner up from each group going forward to semi-finals.
Maz Munday lost to Graham Murphy 11/13
Terry Fearne lost to Olly Murphy 8/13
Leaving father and son to battle the final which was eventually won by... Graham Murphy
The entry fee of £3 per head was shared £20/ £10.
All in all a good day which after a later start than advertised was wrapped up by 2pm. Lunch was provided by the bar staff at £2 per head for those requiring it.
Weather: fine to start turning unseasonably cold.
A well deserved thank you to the Manston Social Club bar staff for opening up on a day when they are normally closed to provide liquid refreshment and food also to make toilets available.

End of Season
We got there! By one means or another all scores were reported before the deadline. Congratulations to Brown Jug A who win Division 1 (yet again) on games difference from Whitstable Natives A and Brown Jug Pirates who are the winners of Division 2 (who saw that coming?) from Horse and Groom
